The position is that of a "live-in host", similar to the customary role at
state and federal campgrounds, with additional administrative and housekeeping
duties as determined by the Campground Manager.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities of Position: The primary duties are
to perform the role of a "live in" hosts at the Kenai Riverside Campground as
well as Innkeepers for the Bed and Breakfast-style accomodations offered
on-site. Campground hosts/innkeepers are also expected to take advance and
walk-in sales for the campgroud as well as Alaska Wildland Adventures' rafting
and fishing daytrips on the Kenai River. Hosts will be responsible for greeting
arriving campers and checking them in (explaining rules and regulations,
offering suggestions for trip planning).
Other duties include campground security, housekeeping of the Bed and
Breakfast rooms, continental breakfast set-up and upkeep, and light maintenance
around the campground (litter pickup, stocking of supplies,making emergency
minor repairs, painting picnic tables).
The Campground Hosts and Innkeepers are expected to set an example for guests
by being model campers themselves--practicing good housekeeping in and around
the host site and by observing all rules.
The Campground Hosts and Innkeepers will be required to provide services for
five days of the week, which may or may not include weekends and holidays,
depending upon the schedule arranged with the Campground Manager. On-duty hours
will be mutually agreed between the Campground Manager and the Hosts and
Innkeepers, but 40-50 hour availability periods should be expected at busy times
of the season. The Hosts and Innkeepers should be expected to be "on call" to
answer questions and deal with emergencies whenever they are present on the
site.
Period of Service: The season generally begins May 15 and extends through
September 30. Some variation may be possible.
Benefits: Campground Hosts will receive complimentary RV site (if
applicable) with utilities for the duration of employment. For employees without
an RV, housing will be provided at no charge. As well Hosts receive
complimentary full-day canyon raft or fishing trip with Alaska Wildland
Adventures, complimentary two night stay at Kenai Backcountry Lodge (space
available basis), pay starts at $7.50 per DOE.
