KFGL Outdoor Leadership Positions

POSITION FILLED: Natural History Kayak Guide: Supports AWA Trip Leaders with responsibilities of AWA trips while they are at KFGL. Also leads activities such as hiking and sea kayaking for independent lodge guests. Must have interpretation background and ninety days (or more) of documented experience with motorized boats (Sea Service). Must have extensive experience in sea kayaking. Pre-employment physical and drug screen required for USCG "Six-Pack". Wilderness First Responder required.

 

Essential Requirements for all Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge Positions:

  • Cheerful and enthusiastic attitude during long days in a sometimes cramped workspace.
  • Possess the ability to work within a team structure and in a flexible manner to accomplish a variety of tasks, including: food preparation, packing, housekeeping, light maintenance and projects, and guest service.

All positions (including managers) have dishwashing duties. Please note: all dishwashing at this lodge is done by hand using a three-step method.

POSITION FILLED: Assistant Guide:This person is truly the Jack or Jill of all trades. Without perhaps as much experience as the lead guides, this person will need to be a well-rounded outdoorsperson capable of leading hikes and kayaking trips safely and with natural history interpretation. Essentially this person must remain flexible and open-minded as the days' duties could range widely from helping out with the kitchen, hospitality, maintenance or even boat crews. The same essential requirements for this position remain the same as listed above.
